Calanais Standing Stones

This archaeological treasure is one of the most remote and ancient monuments in
Europe. Popular explanations link the stones to the complex astronomical theories
of the Druids


Water Colour Exhibition

Throughout the gallery you will see a set of of limited edition watercolours by a
Local Artist of some of the above places which include - Rodel church, Luskentyre
Beach and Taransay. 

Golf

A Links Course - designed by nature. Harris Golfing was formed naturallly by the elements and requires some skillful playing.This  course is rated amongst the10 most scenic in the world.

Fishing

Brown Trout fishing on Scalpay is free, lochs are only fifteen minutes walk from Braeside.

Scalpay Bridge

In 1997 the Scalpay bridge linking the islands of Harris and Scalpay was officially
open by the Prime Minister.

Shopping

The local grocer/newsagent and the Post Office is a 5-minute walk away. Fish vans and butcher vans also visit the island.

Tarbert (around 5 miles/10 minutes drive) is the Island’s main village offering grocers, hairdressers, gift shops, petrol stations, and local hotels that offer both food and refreshments.

Eating Out

The Scalpay Bridge connects Scalpay to Harris.  Tarbert is 5 miles away from Scalpay and has a variety of hotels and places to eat.

Beaches

Beautiful beaches are only fifteen minutes drive away from Scalpay.
